Following the success of the two previous student built Van’s RV-12 aircrafts, the Mercury Bay Student Aviation Trust secured another client who was excited to have his next aeroplane built by students.
Students from Mercury Bay Area School have the unique opportunity again to build a light aircraft and experience working in a team environment in the workshop assembly area situated in Dakota Drive, Whitanga.
Our journey to build an aircraft started in 2012 when a conversation between Karlos Bosson (MBAS Y9 teacher) and local aircraft engineer, Jim Evans initiated the MBAS RV 12 project.
In 2014 Mercury Bay Area School students embarked on a second aviation project, once again under guidance from members of the local community.
