Welcome to Mercury Bay Area School
Ngā mihi nui tātou, Nau mai, haere mai
I offer my sincere welcome to Mercury Bay Area School. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula sits our sprawling well resourced campus which has served Whitianga and surrounding areas for generations. Our spectacular, unique coastal environment provides a rich range of outdoor education, localised curriculum, environmental and aquatic activities.
As an Area School, we offer a unique educational experience that ensures a continuity of education for Students/Ākonga to develop close relationships with each other, and the teachers who support them on their learning journey. Our integrated curriculum delivery, high quality staff and excellent pastoral care enable our young people to thrive.
We acknowledge Ngāti Hei iwi as tangata whenua. We are committed to maintaining a close working reciprocal relationship.
Many of our successful students spend the entire 13 years of their education with us. In this time they are encouraged to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities: Music, Performing Arts, Sports, Cultural, Environmental, Aquatic and Aeronautical activities play an integral part in our school success.
Mercury Bay Area School embraces the KAURI values of Kindness, Achievement, Unity, Respect and Identity. Our guiding statement is "Student centered learning and achievement - students first."
Thank you for your interest in our kura/school. We look forward to you joining our school community
