Construction and Mechanical Technologies focuses on making and knowing how to make products and devices.
This course takes design thinking to a higher level where on hands experimentation of materials and construction techniques are explored in-depth. Fulfilling stakeholders requirements are an integral part of this. This course promotes the ability to clearly communicate and logically problem solve which are some of the most important life and vocational skills a person can possess. These skills are essential in an ever changing technological society.
Year 12 Construction and Mechanical Technologies NCEA Level 2
This Level 2 course involves achievement standards assessed both externally and internally. Achievement based criteria for assessment exist for identified learning outcomes within each achievement standard. Learning involved in skills based unit standards will also be part of this course to deepen student understanding of making and knowing how to make. There is an expectation that students will work to the best of their ability and focus on achieving subject endorsement. Prerequisite: Level 1 - Furniture Making, Engineering or Design and Visual Communication or with approval by the Curriculum Leader. Recoveries: $50.00.
