End of Term 1 Newsletter from Primary

April 15th

Kia ora whanau!

First of all our primary school would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all of you who have supported us in one way or another this term. There has been a huge number of parents volunteering for swimming, mean green houses, taking transport for sport - and a whole lot more. We really appreciate the time and the support you have given to us and your children.

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first term. The days are certainly getting crisper and the hot days of summer are just a memory now. With the colder weather comes the need for additional “bits” of uniform. Here’s a reminder of what is allowed:

Navy, black, white or grey thermals/long sleeve tops under uniform shirts ( no stripes please)

  • Girls can wear plain navy or black leggings under their skorts.
  • MBAS track pants are available from the The Warehouse, plain navy track pants are also acceptable
  • Your child may want to start wearing covered shoes- please make sure they are named and are suitable for running in and that they are fairly neutral colours please. Students should not be coming to school in boots/shoes with heels.

Please make sure ALL of your child’s clothing is named. The mountain of unnamed clothing that is in our lost property is INSANE! Bess Handz does a great service with embroidering names on uniform and if it’s named, it will make it’s way back to your child. Please encourage your child (as we do) that if they take anything off, to put it in their bag immediately.

The holidays are a great time to replenish any stationery - in my experience it’s usually pencils and glue sticks that are needed. Please check your child’s home communications book to find out what they will need. There is an additional request for a box of tissues, as with the colder weather coming so do the sniffles, and we want to try and stop the spread of germs as much as we can. We have just ordered in our winter stock of hand sanitiser and we will reminding children to wash their hands regularly. Just a reminder that if your child has had  vomiting or diarrhea, they must not come back to school until 24 hours after their LAST incident. If everyone does this, it really helps stop the spread of any sickness.

Please take the time over the holidays to check our Primary website, if you haven’t already. There’s a lot information about what we have been doing and what we will be doing in the coming term. www.mbasprimary.weebly.com. I update every week and you can also navigate from there to the class weeblys.

Star Wars Day - May the 4th Be With You

Just a reminder about our mufti day to be a force for good….You do not have to dress in theme- but those of us who are proudly Star Wars geeks certainly will be!

Finally, we hope you get the chance to enjoy some time with your family over these school holidays. My favourite part- not having to make school lunches! Please have fun, keep safe, read a book or two and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2.

Ka kite,
