Y9-10 Health Education

As part of the Year 9 and 10 Health Education curriculum the students will learn about the following;

Year 9:
- Mental health and resilience
- Safe decision making around alcohol
- Sexuality education including, assertiveness and decision making around contraception, consent and healthy relationships

Year 10:
- Functional anatomy
- Mental Health and resilience
- Drugs and alcohol safety
- Sexuality education including, assertiveness and decision making around contraception, consent, knowledge and understanding of sexually transmitted infections

On Thursday the 10th of August at 6pm in the library there will be a community consultation for parents / guardians who would like more discussion around this.

Multiple Permanent Part Time and Casual vacancies around the Hauraki / Coromandel region

We have a number of depots located throughout the Hauraki / Coromandel Region, each responsible for delivering quality service. Depots are based in Whitianga, Kerepehi, Waihi, Paeroa and Kopu, as well as a number of satellite depots.

The role of a Bus Driver is both rewarding and fulfilling so If you:
• Are recently retired and just looking for something to help fill some of your day or
• Your children have reached the age that you can spend mornings and afternoons driving and want to have school holidays off or
• Need to earn a bit of cash and
• Thrive on providing excellent customer service and
• Have a preference to work in a 'sole charge' role and also
• Really enjoy driving
To succeed in this role it is essential you have:
• A clean driving record
• The right to live and work in New Zealand
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• A valid full Class 1 New Zealand Drivers Licence for at least 2 years

Ball Shop

The MBAS Year 11 Business Studies class is organising a pop-up shoe and clothing shop at the end of this term on Thursday 6th July in the school Library from 3p.m. - 5 p.m.  All of the proceeds from this one-off sale will be donated to the Starship Oncology Unit.

Tangos Shoes has generously donated a large stock of shoes and boots to sell at very heavily discounted prices (from $10 - $20 per pair). All new and still in their boxes!

With the school ball coming up at the end of July we would like to be able to offer for sale any unwanted ball dresses, suits and shirts and suitable accessories, again with all sale proceeds going to the Starship Oncology Unit.

If you have suitable items to donate these can be left at the school office any time before Monday 3rd July.

Holiday activities at the Mercury Bay Library feature Lego

Rugby News 10 June

MBAS is on a roll with some fantastic rugby again this weekend.

1st XV played another nail biter of a game against Paeroa who have just returned to the Thames Valley competition after playing in the Chiefs Bowl for the first round and we knew it would be a hard one to win.  It ended with a draw of 12 all and leaves us undefeated in the competition so far. Tries by Callum Walker and Christian Fletcher, conversion by Cameron Richards

U17s had a bye

4th Grade played Thames and had a magnificent win of 83-0. Tries by Bradley Ray x3, Anaru Aupouri-Te Huia x5, Kybah Aupouri-Te Huia, Ethan Giles x2, Billy Clarke, Jonathan Handy, Noah Bowen.

Boomerang Bags

Boomerang-bags

This is a community driven initiative to reduce the number of plastic bags in our community,simply by making reusable bags from recycled materials.


Everyone is welcome to come along every Tuesday afternoon to Mercury Bay Area School to make reusable bags in the sewing room. Its a great opportunity to come along and meet new people, do some sewing, ironing, pining, screen printing or just enjoy a cup of tea.

Help us reduce the amount of plastic bags in our community so we can save our beautiful environment.

A fantastic week of rugby

Fantastic rugby this weekend!

1st XV win over Thames 25-17 gave us the Graham Watton trophy for winning the first round and also we now hold the Thames challenge shield.  It was a great game for the spectators, very evenly matched and some really good rugby.
